GUNMEN KIDNAPS LAGOS FIRE SERVICE BOSS, AND SEVEN OTHERS

The acting Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaki Musibau and seven others have been kidnapped by gunmen along Itoikin-Epe road in Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area, LCDA in the state. At the time of filling this report, the identity of the seven abducted by the gunmen on Saturday within the axis were still unknown. Sources disclosed that the abductors stormed the bridge at about 8pm and stopped vehicles conveying the victims at Iwoye bridge;   they ordered them to alight from their vehicles and whisked them to an unknown destination.  It was learned that the axis had become the new den for kidnappers lately after abducting Ikosi-Ejirin council chairman, Mr. Ajijedidun Samson Adebisi and Vice chairman of Lekki LCDA, were last month kidnapped within the axis. POLICE CONFIRMS KIDNAPPING OF BAYELSA COUNCIL CHAIRMAN'S FATHER

Gunmen  The Police Command in Bayelsa has confirmed the kidnapping of Mr Wellington Magbisa, father of the Chairman of Sagbama Local Government Area of the state by gunmen.  DSP Butswat Asinim, Spokesman of the command,made confirmation while addressing newsmen on Sunday in Yenagoa. Asinim said that the kidnappers gained entrance to the victim’s bedroom via an unprotected window and abducted him. “Five men came in through an unprotected window, captured Mr Magbisa and escaped through the waterways,“he said.  He said that all the sister security agencies in the state had been alerted to rescue the victim and also arrest the captors. FG TO INTRODUCE HEALTH CARE FUND FOR LASSA FEVER PATIENTS

Lassa Fever 🤒  The Federal Government is introducing a funding mechanism to carter for patients with confirmed cases of Lassa Fever in the country, the Director General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, has said. Ihekweazu made the disclosure on Sunday in an interview with  Newsmen in Abuja. He explained that the aim of the healthcare fund was to ensure that money does not become a hindrance for patients in accessing lassa fever treatment. “We are making plans through the Basic Primary Healthcare Provision Fund, the new funding instituted by the federal government, to cover the cost of treatment of confirmed cases of Lassa fever patients.  “A process is ongoing on how to manage this and it is at the heart of discussion at all levels of government at the moment. “The aim is to make sure that ability to pay is not a barrier to accessing the treatment for public health diseases such as lassa fever,” Ihekweazu said.
